12 - time champions of Israel, Maccabi Haifa are plotting a summer swoop for Nigerian striker Tony Nwakaeme, according to one.co.il.

The 25 - year - old has impressed in his first season in the Premier League, netting 6 goals in 28 starts for modest Hapoel Ra’anana.

Manager of Maccabi Haifa, Aleksandar Stanojevi� alongside the CEO, Yaakov Shahar were in the podium to run the rule over Tony Nwakaeme as Hapoel Raanana played a 1 - 1 draw with Ashdod.

And the former Universitatea Cluj man impressed the observers, scoring in the 35th minute after Yero Bello had given Ashdod the lead.

It could be a bidding war as Hapoel Beer Sheva, the team that pay the wages of Austin Ejide, are also interested in Tony.

Under contract  until the end of the 2015-2016 season, Maccabi Haifa are hoping a bid of one million Euros will make Hapoel Ra’anana agree to release their prized jewel.
