Lille Working On Deal To Sign Kenneth Omeruo
Published: May 05, 2014French Ligue I outfit Lille are in pole position to sign Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo from Chelsea, according to the electronic edition of Soccer Laduma Nigeria, SL10.ng.
The website has reported that Lille have already started negotiations with representatives of the highly rated youngster over a summer move.
Barring injury, Kenneth Omeruo should be one of the first names on Stephen Keshi’s World Cup roster, and he is expected to put himself in the shop window in Brazil.
And because of that, Lille hope to close a deal for the starlet even before the start of the World Cup.
But to bring the Super Eagle to the Stade Pierre - Mauroy, Les Dogues face a little competition from Middlesbrough.
While Chelsea are hoping to extend the contract of the 20 - year - old, the Stamford Bridge higher - ups have offered him wages far below what he commands, with his stock rising after winning the African Cup of Nations and representing Nigeria at the Fifa Confederations Cup.
If the parties don’t fill in the missing gaps in the coming weeks, Omeruo would prefer to join Lille ahead of Middlesbrough.
