Rizespor Defender, Godfrey Oboabona Does Not Want History To Repeat Itself Against Iran
Nigeria’s opening games at the last four editions of the World Cup have been more like a mix bag, winning matches against Bulgaria and Spain while suffering defeats to Argentina on two different occasions.

In the same vein, the Super Eagles have not tasted victory in their last eight games at the mundial, since that 1 - 0 win over Bulgaria at the Parc des Princes, Paris on June 19, 1998 thanks to a goal from the Prince of Monaco, Victor Ikpeba.

Two 1 -  0 defeats to Argentina at South Korea/ Japan 2002 and South Africa 2010 contributed to Nigeria exiting the tournament in the first round.

Rizespor defender, Godfrey Oboabona, does not want history to repeat itself when the Super Eagles clash with Iran on Monday, June 16.

“I am looking forward to a good game against Iran and I am sure of victory by God’s grace.

“Back in camp, we have been watching clips of the opponents, ” says Godfrey Oboabona to allnigeriasoccer.com.

In their first and only meeting with an Asian opponent at the World Cup, Nigeria drew 2 - 2 with South Korea on June 22, 2010 in Durban.
