Official : Chris Iwelumo Hangs Up His Boots
Published: October 29, 2014Former Scotland international Chris Iwelumo , 36, has retired from the game that brought him fame and fortune.
He was under contract with Chester until the summer of 2015, but has not featured for the Conference side since the 1 - 1 draw against Welling United on October 4.
“The day has arrived,” Chris Iwelumo said on Twitter.
“Today I sadly announce my retirement from football following a long and blessed career.”
The 6ft 3in striker appeared for clubs in Scotland, Denmark, England and Germany in his professional career spanning 19 years, including Stoke City, Watford and Alemannia
Arguably, the highlight of his career was scoring four goals against Hull City in October 2006 while defending the colors of Colchester United.
