Sampdoria Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic Says Stefano Okaka Is Distracted
Published: January 19, 2015Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic believes that Stefano Okaka is struggling for form due to transfer speculations linking him away from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Thus, the manager did not name the Italian - Nigeria in the starting lineup when Sampdoria travelled to face Parma in the Serie A on Sunday.
“For us he was a key player, has grown tremendously. Lately, though, I do not know whether to blame the market, I saw him distracted for 2-3 games.
“I had to put him on the bench because he is behind a player like Bergessio, who has always trained well and never made controversy,” Sinisa Mihajlovic was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.com, making reference to Sunday Sport.
Stefano Okaka was on parade for the last 16 minutes of the tie at Stadio Ennio Tardini, after he replaced Eder.
This winter, he has been linked to Swansea City, Inter Milan and AC Milan amongst others.
