Arsene Wenger Confirms Alex Iwobi Is Staying Put At Arsenal
Published: July 25, 2015Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Iwobi is not among the youngsters that will be farmed out on loan to garner first - team experience before the close of the summer transfer market.
The Dream Team VI trainee caught the eyes of many in the Gunners 6 - 0 win over Lyon at the Emirates Cup, scoring his first senior goal since he joined the club more than a decade ago.
“At the moment some players might go out on loan,” Wenger said to arsenal.com.
“At the moment Alex Iwobi will be staying with us but for the others we have to decide do they need the experience to play somewhere on a regular basis, to finish their education.”
Last season, Iwobi made 40 competitive appearances for the Arsenal Under - 21s and scored 12 goals ( 5 assists) .
