Macauley Chrisantus Plays Down Reports AEK Athens Want To Offload Him
Macauley Chrisantus has played down reports that suggested that AEK Athens are seeking to offload him before the close of the summer transfer market.

But the former Golden Eaglets star admitted that the Greek Super League club received offers from a couple of clubs interested in his services but the bids were deemed insufficient.

“Chrisantus said he called the Director of Football at AEK when he read the news on the internet and he told him the news was untrue, ” a top source close to Chrisantus told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“There were interests from clubs for him which they received but rejected them because their offers were low.

“The club never mentioned that he would be offloaded and the Director of Football, Branko, who worked with him at Las Palmas insisted it was not true. ”

Based on the report from Greece, the 24 - year - old is not in the plans of the coach for the new season but this has been dismissed again by the former Nigeria youth international.

“Chrisantus had a good pre - season in Poznan, Poland. He netted two goals and assisted once in five games.

“All the strikers competing with him for a starting shirt scored two goals apiece, ” he added.

Macauley Chrisantus joined AEK Athens from Sivasspor in the winter transfer market and scored 6 times in the league last term.
