Exclusive : Obi Mikel Likely To Stay Put At Chelsea After Besiktas Fail To Meet Wage Demands
Published: August 31, 2015Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that John Obi Mikel will not be joining Super Lig side Beikta as things stand though he has been personally approached by the president of the club, Fikret Orman.
Reports in the foreign press claim that the Istanbul outfit are exploring ways to sign the midfielder from Chelsea, and Erdal Torunogulları, Beikta transfer committee head, is due in London today to try and convince the Nigeria international to join the club.
With the Turkish transfer window set to close for business on Monday, August 31, the stumbling block is that Beikta are yet to meet his wage demands and the Super Eagles star is not ready to leave London now for personal reasons.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the 28 - year - old Mikel is earning around £80,000 per season at Chelsea excluding performance related incentives.
He still has a valid contract with the English Premier League champions until June 30, 2017.
