Exclusive : Taye Taiwo Preparing To Bid Farewell To HJK Helsinki
Published: December 15, 2015Nigeria international Taye Taiwo will only return to HJK Helsinki in the 2016 season if he fails to sign for a new team, and the defender is yet to resume pre - season training with the Finnish club.
According to Tekin Birinci, the agent of the former Bursaspor and AC Milan star, a return to Turkey or Italy could be on the cards in the January transfer window.
“Taye Taiwo wants to play in a bigger league, maybe he will return to Turkey. Right now we are in talks with Turkish and Italian clubs, ” said Birinci, who used to manage Seattle Sounders star Obafemi Martins, to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“If we don’t agree with any of the clubs we are talking to and don’t have other options he must return to HJK.”
At the end of the 2015 season, HJK activated a clause which was inserted into his earlier contract that allows them to prolong his stay by an additional season.
The wing - back , 30, made 11 starts in the league last term, lasting the distance in each of those games.
