Swindon Town Star Nicholas Ajose Labels Himself Penalty-Box Predator Following Hat-trick
Published: February 21, 2016
Swindon Town star Nicholas Ajose has labelled himself a penalty-box
predator following his hat-trick against Blackpool in the English League
One on Saturday at the County Ground.
With 18 goals to his name in the league, statistically the second best in the division, the former Manchester United trainee admitted that he would not have scored many goals this season if he had not converted his close range efforts.
“I didn’t think it was set right to go first time. So I took a couple of touches and managed to put it in the bottom,” Nicky Ajose told reporters.
“That (goals from close range) are my bread and butter - I get a lot of stick from the lads saying I’m scoring tap-ins but no-one scored 20 goals a season just scoring goals from outside the box.
“Obviously it’s a good spectacle for the fans but we need to be keeping zero - two from set pieces is not good enough.”
Between them, Nicholas Ajose and strike partner Jonathan Obika have accounted for 26 goals (more than half) scored by Swindon Town in the third-tier in the ongoing campaign.
