Match Preview: MFM Versus Rivers United
Published: February 24, 2016The Agege Stadium will literally be on fire on Wednesday afternoon when two unbeaten sides in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL); Mountain of Fire (MFM) FC and Rivers United FC file out in oneof the standout fixtures of match day two.
MFM upstaged the applecart on match day one by beating highly-rated Nasarawa United 2-1 on the road.
A first half double from Chukwuka Emmanuel and Musa Newman rendered Ifeanyi Nweke’s 75th minute effort for the hosts purely academic as the newboys laid down the marker in comprehensive fashion.
“I was not surprised with the win over Nasarawa United because we have players that have been together since 2007.
“We are one big family and we have a lot up our sleeves this season,” Chairman of the club, Godwin Enakhena told Rivers United Media.
On Wednesday, MFM will have home advantage plus the comfort of having their fans in numbers, cheering to the rafters and baying for blood against a Rivers United side that started their campaign on a flyer.
United stunned, seven-time champions, Enyimba 1-0 at the Yakubu Gowon (former Liberation) Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
