Super Eagles Coach Siasia Sweating On The Fitness Of Arsenal Starlet Iwobi Ahead Egypt Clash
Published: March 22, 2016Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia is sweating on the fitness of Arsenal attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi ahead of Friday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.
The former England youth international missed the team’s first training session on Tuesday morning and the official information from the Super Eagles media officer,Toyin Ibitoye, is that he is nursing a minor niggle.
It would be a big blow to manager Samson Siasia if Iwobi does not make a full recovery before Friday, with Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo and Mainz stopper Leon Balogun both unavailable for selection as a result of injury.
The 19-year-old Alex Iwobi has two caps for the senior national team of Nigeria, which came in friendly matches against Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo last October in Belgium.
