Mikel Wants EU Passport; Midfielder Returns To Porto
Ex-Flying Eagles invitee Mikel Agu, 23, will not extend his loan agreement with Belgian First Division A team Club Brugge.

The central midfielder spent the whole of last season on loan at Club Brugge and they were eager to offer him a new deal, but he has turned down the offer because he is hopeful of acquiring a Portuguese passport if he remains at Porto for one more year.

“Mikel is returning to Portugal. He needs to stay one more year in Portugal to enable him get his Portuguese Passport, ”  a source close to Mikel said to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“If he had remained in Belgium for two years, he needs to start afresh before applying for a Portuguese passport. Brugge wanted him to stay but he has to return.”

The BJ Foundation product first trained with Porto in 2009 before he was offered a contract during the 2011-2012 season.

Mikel was in Nigeria for a short vacation but has flown back to Portugal ahead of the start of pre-season training.
