NFF VP : Lesbianism, Coaches Taking Advantage Of Girls Major Concern Affecting Female Football

In his quest to encourage grassroots football development in the South Western part of the country, Vice President, Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has promised the establishment of South West Football Forum for talents discovery.
Barrister Akinwumi made the promise at the Hot Seat programme organized by Oyo State chapter of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.
He pointed out that encouragement of grassroots football development will help in building up a formidable team that can be relied on whenever they are called upon.
Barrister Akinwumi stated that his interest in the grassroots football development is what is driving him towards establishment of South West Football Forum where talents will be discovered.
He added that the idea of forum which will involve all South West state governors, senators, House of Representative members as well as other relevant stakeholders in the football game will go a long way in talents discovery such as players, coaches and referees.
He pointed out under 13 and 15 football competitions held in Ondo and Ogun States respectively as part of the arrangements putting together to ensure grassroots football is given priority.
Speaking about how women football is lagging behind, Barrister Akinwumi disclosed that lesbianism, lack of fund as well as coaches taking advantage of girls are major concern affecting women football development in the country.
He added that there are little interest in the sponsorship.
He, however, said that the association will not relent in its oars in ensuring that women football is given necessary support.
The NFF Vice President said that the association is not leaving any stone unturned as regarding appointment of coach for the Super Eagles.
He said there are many things that is going on but not visible to the members of the public, adding that the caretaker coach, Salisu Yusuf is not doing bad.
Barrister Akinwumi said that there is need to ensure that there is harmony between the players and the management, as well as ensuring that the association in good financial position before the issue of coach is settled.
