Watford Star Ighalo Drops BIG Hint He Will Represent Nigeria In Olympic Games
Published: June 16, 2016Watford striker Odion Ighalo, 27, has dropped a big hint that he will represent Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Speculations are rife that the former Flying Eagles skipper is one of the over aged players named to the provisional roster and Samson Siasia was in London in May to hold talks with the player regarding his availability.
Ighalo’s commitment to the national teams cause is not in doubt but the fact remains that Watford can’t be forced to release one of their most important players to the Nigeria Football Federation for a competition outside Fifa’s calendar for international games.
Asked if he applied for a United States visa on Thursday, Ighalo replied : “I don’t need a visa to travel to the United States, I use a European passport. I don’t know yet when I will join the Nigeria U23s squad. ”
Meanwhile, Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia has refused to confirm or deny reports that Celtic stopper Efe Ambrose could be representing the country in the Olympic Games for the second time.
