Manu Garba Returns Meager N100,000 Bribe; NFF General Secretary Backing Golden Eaglets Coach

The last has not been heard of the bribery scandal involving Nigeria U17s coach Manu Garba, who is being investigated by his employers, Nigeria Football Federation, due to sharp practices in the Golden Eaglets screening that kicked off last month.

The former Flying Eagles coach believes he is untouchable because he is being backed by the General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

The latest revelation is that Manu Garba rejected a bribe of N100,000 from the owner of a Lagos-based team (names withheld)  because there was a shortfall in the money the coach had demanded.

“Manu is not happy that Emmanuel Amuneke collected the U20 team from him, he wants to come to the U17s and make his money, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Manu is being backed by Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary. Pinnick is doing a good job, he monitors everything and doesn’t take rubbish but Manu and his group are scattering everything.

“A well known official of a Lagos club gave him N100,000 to invite his players to the Golden Eaglets but he returned the money after it was paid because it was too small. ”

He has opined that Nigerian coaches, especially in the youth teams, are involved in unethical practices because the Nigerian Federation don’t pay them their entitlements as and when due.

“The last Under 17, what did they get for winning the World Cup? The NFF are not paying the coaches, that’s why they are doing this shady business.

“Let the NFF pay the coaches so they can stop collecting bribe from agents and players. ”

Only yesterday, this website reported that Manu Garba was paid N5 million by Victor Osimhen’s intermediary, Yusuf Shira Ayila, to invite five of his players to the national team.

It can also be authoritatively revealed that Collins Football Academy, Lagos gave the coach N4 million to call up four of his players, and that suggests that anyone can get players invited to the Nigeria U17s if you can cough up N1 million per player.
