How Manu Garba Agent, Babawo Snatched Musa Yahaya, Abdullahi From Adam Mohammed
Published: June 22, 2016Agent Babawo Mohammed and his cronies have wrongly pointed an accusing finger at Abuja-based intermediary Adam Mohammed as the individual behind the leaked Golden Eaglets cash for spots story published by allnigeriasoccer.com.
The two intermediaries do not see eye to eye literally because Babawo poached several of Adam’s clients, using his closeness with his client coach Manu Garba, and to get his way he threatened the players that they will be dropped from the national team if they refuse to sign representation contracts with his agency.
Their problem started when the Jos-based agent poached Mustapha Abdullahi from Adam Mohammed and promised the left-back a deal at Portuguese club Portimonense which never materialized.
Babawo Mohammed abandoned Abdullahi after the failed move to Portugal and the player wanted Adam to take him back upon his return to Nigeria but his ex-agent refused.
Former Golden Eaglets skipper Musa Mohammed was another player Babawo had his eyes on but was unsuccessful in his attempt to poach the wing-back from Adam.
Musa Mohammed, now with Istanbul Basaksehir, rejected the advances of Babawo because he was not afraid of being axed from the Nigeria U17s squad due to his relationship with Nigeria Football Federation officials and he was also skipper of the team.
Because of that singular attitude, Adam Mohammed has remained grateful to Musa Mohammed, and does not joke with the player.
It is also confirmed that ex-Tottenham Hotspur trainee Musa Yahaya was originally represented by Adam Mohammed but was forced to sign an agency contract with Babawo Mohammed during his time with the Golden Eaglets.
The Nigeria Football Federation are now bothered about the agents that represent the players in their youth teams, as most of them fail to get European clubs after starring at major tournaments.
Using Mali, who finished second in the last Fifa U17s, as a case study, several of their players were being courted by big European clubs after the competition in Chile, but only Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen have confirmed deals in place in the Nigeria squad.
Allnigeriasoccer.com protects its sources, however, it can be revealed that Adam Mohammed had no input in the stories published about Manu Garba.
