Nigerian-Born Manchester City Defender Kigbu Makes Debut For England

Talented Manchester City defender Ashinme Kigbu made his international debut as England U18s defeated their Italian counterparts 2-1 in a mini tournament at Highbury Stadium, Fleetwood
on Thursday night.
The 17-year-old stopper was one of the three players of Nigerian descent that made head coach Neil Dewsnip’s starting line-up, with Arsenal talent Tolaji Bola and Fulham midfielder Dennis Adeniran also involved form the start of the game.
Mason Mount opened scoring for the Young Lions in the 37th minute and the scoreboard remained the same as both teams headed into the interval.
On 73 minutes, the Chelsea attacking midfielder grabbed his second goal of the game after Matteo Gabbia’s 69th minute equalizer.
Kigbu and Bola worked a ninety-minute shift while Adeniran subbed off in the 60th minute.
Ashinme Kigbu was born in Jos and was on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation before he was called up to the England squad.
