Arsenal Striker Akpom Explains Why He Was Missing Against Reading
Published: October 26, 2016England U21 star Chuba Akpom has explained why he was not on parade at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Reading in the fourth round of the League Cup.
It has come to light that the attacker is still recovering from an injury, and he is hoping to return to full fitness sooner rather than later.
“Good win for the boys tonight , onto the next round , gutted i couldn’t be out there but still on the road to recovery ð���ð��¾ #AFC, ” Akpom said via social media last night.
Akpom, 21, helped the Gunners progress to the fourth round, playing 83 minutes of their 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in September.
While he has not made a single appearance in the Premier League and Champions League this term, the attacker has impressed for the U21 team in Premier League 2, with 3 goals (1 assist) to his name from 2 matches.
