Iwobi Overtakes Ex-Wigan Striker Aghahowa For Premier League Appearances
Alex Iwobi has overtaken former Super Eagles hero Julius Aghahowa for the number of appearances in the Premier League, as he has been named in Arsenal’s starting XI to face Sunderland.

Aghahowa, who represented Wigan Athletic from January 2007 to June 2008, had the same number of games played in the English top flight (twenty) as Iwobi, prior to today’s game at the Stadium of Light.

The 20-year-old Iwobi starts in attacking midfield alongside Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

As for Sunderland, Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe is in line to play his fourth game in all competitions for the club he joined in September, having made the bench.

The former Everton starlet clocks in at number six for the Nigerian players with the most Premier League appearances, while Iwobi is 25th on the list.
