Man City Hail New Golden Boy Of Nigerian Football Iheanacho For Solid Display Vs Algeria
Published: November 13, 2016
Kelechi Iheanacho has been praised by Manchester City for his performance in Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algeria in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
The City number 72 failed in his bid to enter the history books after firing blanks for the first time in five appearances for the Super Eagles, but the Premier League club reckon that he gave a good account of himself, bearing in mind that he was starved of the ball.
“In Africa, Kelechi Iheanacho’s chances to score in Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algerian were few and far between, but the City striker still gave a solid display, playing the full 90 minutes, ” Manchester City wrote on their official webpage .
The 20-year-old striker took to social media to celebrate Nigeria’s second win in the qualifiers with Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi shortly after the game at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.
Iheanacho stated : “Great victory today with my bro @alexanderiwobi happy to be part of this great team up to the next game.”
He will return to Manchester in the new week to begin preparations for the upcoming meeting with Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
