Peter Odemwingie Sent Off For Nasty Elbow On Leeds United Player
Published: November 26, 2016
Rotherham United striker Peter Odemwingie was sent off in his team’s 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday.
Just before the half-hour mark, the 2014 World Cup star took the walk of shame for a nasty elbow on Liam Cooper.
Meanwhile, the former West Brom and Stoke City star has maintained his innocence, arguing that footballers usually jump with their hands to protect themselves.
“I was unlucky with the red card. We all normally jump with our hands up to protect each other and expected his to be up as well, ” Odemwingie explained on Twitter while the game was going on.
He later added : “I didn’t mean to but caught the player and accept the referee had no choice. Hope the boys get something out of the game. Ups and downs â½ï¸ð.”
His dismissal today was the second time he has been shown a red card in 149 appearances since he moved to England in 2010.
