Nigerian Striker Bags Brace As Sunderland & Leicester Share Spoils
Published: March 12, 2017In a Premier League 2 clash at the Stadium of Light on Sunday involving three young strikers of Nigerian descent, Josh Maja scored twice as Sunderland were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City.
Maja and Sweden U21 international Joel Asoro led the line for the Black Cats and England youth international Layton Ndukwu started for the Foxes.
Muskwe opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute but the Nigerian restored parity on 36 minutes when he chipped the goalkeeper after he was played in by Asoro.
With the scoreboard reading 2-1, Maja scored his second of the afternoon on 88 minutes, converting his spot-kick after Robson was fouled inside the box.
Between them Maja and Asoro have played fives times for the first team of Sunderland this season.
