Sunderland Provide Update On Fitness Of Super Eagles Striker
Published: March 18, 2017
Sunderland manager David Moyes has provided an update on the fitness of Victor Anichebe, who has been on the sidelines since January after picking up an injury against his old club West Brom.
The Nigeria international is presently undergoing his rehabilitation in the United States but is expected to return to Sunderland within the next seven days.
“We’ve sent Victor to work with a specialist in America and he should be back shortly – this weekend or next weekend I think, ” Moyes said to the official website of the Black Cats.
“He’s running and he’s back on it so we felt that sending him to someone who can work one-on-one with him constantly [was the best option], and it looks like it’s working.”
He added: “My aim was to get him back for as much of April as I can, and I can’t guarantee that at the moment but we’re doing everything we can.”
Prior to his spell in the treatment room, the ex-Everton wonderkid netted 3 goals in 11 Premier League appearances.
