Nigerian Wonderkid Scores Historic Goal As Sunderland Qualify For First European Final
Sunderland have advanced to the final of Premier League International Cup after a 1-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Friday night.

Sweden U21 international of Nigerian descent Joel Asoro scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 13th minute.

The attacker’s penalty appeal was dismissed in the third minute but he wasn’t kept at bay for so long as he met a pass and slotted under Oxborough for the only goal of the encounter.

On 57 minutes, Asoro had an opportunity to double the Black Cats advantage but could not execute his piece of skill.

Super Eagles late invitee for the recent get-together in London, Josh Maja, was introduced in the 88th minute, attacking midfielder Diallang Jaiyesimi came off the bench for the Canaries with 15 minutes left and his teammate Timi
Odusina was an unused substitute.

Following tonight’s win, Sunderland U23s became the first team since the formation of the club to qualify for a European final.

Sunderland will face Musa Yahaya
’s FC Porto in the final.
