Man Utd 2 Real Salt Lake 1 : Nigeria International Shines, Lukaku Nets Maiden Goal, Mata Injured
Published: July 18, 2017Manchester United turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win in their second pre-season fixture against Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake at the Tinto Stadium on Monday night.
Back home, the talk leading up to the game centered on a possible duel between former Spain U20 teammates, Real Salt Lake's Sunday Stephen and Manchester United's Juan Mata.
Sunny, who has plenty of experience playing for European clubs, started and impressed in the 30 minutes he spent on the pitch while Mata entered into the fray for the start of the second half but was replaced 13 minutes later after picking up a minor ankle injury.
Luis Silva opened the scoring for Real Salt Lake with a flick in the 23rd minute after he was set up by Savarino, but the Red Devils equalized through Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 29th minute.
In the 38th minute, new signing Romelu Lukaku kept his cool to round the keeper and slotted in his maiden goal for Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho's side return to action with a game at the NRG Stadium (Houston, Texas) against Manchester City on July 21.
