Published: July 21, 2017Manchester United defeated rivals Manchester City 2-0 in an International Champions Cup clash staged at NRG Stadium (Houston, Texas) on Thursday night local time.
The Red Devils were two goals to the good at half-time, thanks to strikes from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford .
The Belgium international beat Ederson to the ball and produced a fine finish from a tight angle to give United the lead in the 37th minute.
Two minutes later, Rashford scored for the third time in pre-season when he fired into the corner after he was set up by Henrik Mkhitaryan.
Manchester-born Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo played the first half for Pep Guardiola's side, his first start for Man City since December 6, 2016, when he lasted 90 minutes on the pitch in a Champions League tie versus Celtic.
Up next, Manchester United face Real Madrid on Sunday, July 23, while the Citizens tackle the same Spanish opposition on the 27th.
