Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho handed his Super Cup medal to a young Nigerian footballer, it has come to light.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in the meeting between the Champions League holders and current Europa League champions at the Philip II Arena, Skopje in Macedonia on Tuesday night.

And after the disappointing loss, the Portuguese gave the runners-up medal to a lucky fan Deji, who was in the stands.

Manchester United stated via their official webpage: ''The Reds boss joined his team to collect his runners-up memento on the pitch in Skopje, but promptly handed it to a delighted supporter - a boy named Deji - in the front row before departing.''

A Twitter account @Souprhim revealed that Deji, his younger brother, was disappointed after the loss to Real Madrid but came alive after receiving the medal from Mourinho.

He tweeted : ''My Lil Bro was so upset after the loss until this ...he's so gassed lol #MUFC @ManUtd''

Deji is an aspiring footballer and hopes to play for Manchester United in future.
