Nigerian Striker Ruled Out Of Chelsea Vs Arsenal Clash
Published: September 17, 2017Former England U21 international Chuba Akpom is potentially out of the eagerly anticipated Premier League encounter between Arsenal and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Arsene Wenger is very unlikely to name the Hale End Academy product for today's clash for the simple reason that he was in action for Arsenal U23s on Friday night.
Chuba Akpom went the distance against the Foxes and this has effectively ruled him out of the Gunners provisional squad for the trip to SW6 1HS.
The attacker has been included in Arsenal's 18-man squad for competitive fixtures only once this season, on Thursday against Cologne in the Europa League, when he failed to come off the bench.
Akpom, who joined Arsenal at the age of six, has suited up ten times for the first team since his debut against Sunderland on 14 September 2013.
Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi (Arsenal) and Victor Moses (Chelsea) remain in contention to play for their respective teams.
