Spartak, Arsenal Tula, Red Bull Stars Named To Zambia 23-Man Roster Vs Nigeria
Published: September 29, 2017Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda has called up 23 players for a critical World Cup qualifier against Nigeria next Saturday, October 7 in Uyo, with eleven foreign-based professionals making the cut.
The in-form Spartak Moscow striker Fashion Sakala has been recalled to the Copper Bullets after serving a one-game suspension on match day four against Algeria.
Other foreign-based professionals invited include Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, highly-rated Arsenal Tula defender Stoppilla Sunzu, and striker Patson Daka of Red Bull Salzburg.
One of the stars of the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, Djurgårdens midfielder Edward Chilufya, has been included in the Zambian senior squad for the first time.
In preparation for the World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles, the Zambian national team will hold a get-together in Accra, Ghana for three days before flying to Uyo next Wednesday.
