Omole, Balogun Debut For Arsenal U23 In Five-Goal Thriller Vs Tottenham
Published: October 23, 2017Tottenham Hotspur beat Arsenal 3-2 in a Premier League 2 encounter staged at Hotspur Way Training Centre (London) on Monday afternoon.
With an eye on Tuesday night's League Cup round of 16 tie against Norwich City, the Gunners decided to field a weakened side, and a couple of promising youngsters were handed their competitive debuts against Spurs.
The highly-rated striker Folarin Balogun made his maiden appearance for Arsenal U23s, and he was later joined on the pitch in the 74th minute by Tobi Omole.
Tottenham were quick out of the blocks, scoring two goals in quick succession through Harrison and Shashoua in the first ten minutes.
The Gunners were able to tie the game before the interval thanks to goals from John-Jules and Gilmour, who registered their names on the score-sheet in the 15th and 24th minute respectively.
On the hour mark, the home team took the lead again through Marcus Edwards, who scored from the spot after Nigerian defender Joseph Olowu gave away a penalty.
Ayodele Amos skippered the Tottenham Hotspur U23s and played the full game along with Keanan Bennetts.
