Lugano's Amuzie Playing His Way Into Starting XI, Plays Full Game Second Time In October
Published: October 27, 2017Nigeria U23 international Stanley Amuzie appears to be close to forcing his way into Lugano's starting eleven thanks to his imperious displays in his first three matches for the Swiss Super League outfit.
The versatile defender got manager Pierluigi Tami's nod to start at left-back in Thursday's 3-2 win at Schötz in a Schweizer Pokal clash held at Fussballanlage Wissenhusen, and gave a good account of himself.
The game against fourth-tier Schötz was the second time in October that Amuzie has started and gone the distance for Lugano, having made his full debut against FC Zurich on October 1.
The Sampdoria loanee was not available for selection at the start of the season because a work permit was yet to be issued.
Ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Stanley Amuzie would be hoping to catch the eye of Super Eagles coaches as he has been in the international wilderness for more than 18 months.
The 21-year-old helped Nigeria win a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games.
