Wydad Star Chisom On Rumored Call-Up : There's No Nigerian GK Playing In Morocco
Published: November 08, 2017Wydad Casablanca striker Chisom Chikatara has reacted to rumours suggesting that an 'unnamed' Moroccan-based goalkeeper has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
The former Abia Warriors sensation has quickly dismissed the bogus report, saying that there are only three Nigerian players based in Morocco.
''There is no Nigerian goalkeeper playing in Morocco, there are only three of us in Morocco, Tony Edjomariegwe, Popoola Sodiq and myself,'' a bemused Chikatara told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Questioned over his thoughts on the upcoming game against Algeria, Chikatara answered : ''It is very cold in Algeria now, they should keep the ball.
''The Super Eagles have nothing to lose though, I am hoping that Nigeria will still win.''
No uninvited goalkeeper was sighted in the training picture uploaded by the Nigeria Football Federation on the social networks, where goalkeeper coaches Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti took Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho through an intensive session on Wednesday morning.
Chippa United netminder Daniel Akpeyi is already in Rabat and will train with his international teammates in their second workout today.
