Etebo On Argentina Match : It's Not An Ordinary Friendly Game
Published: November 14, 2017Oghenekaro Etebo has shared his thoughts on Tuesday evening's international friendly between Nigeria and Argentina, stating that the Super Eagles will not take their feet off the pedal as the game will help the team prepare adequately for next summer's football festival in Russia.
Nigeria sealed qualification for the World Cup with a game to spare, and the CD Feirense number ten contributed to the team's success by playing half of the matches.
''First of all I want to thank God for the qualification for the World Cup in Russia coming up next year,'' Etebo told Super Eagles official Twitter handle.
''About today's game I know it is a very important game because every team have to start preparing for the World Cup.
''You are not going to go the World Cup and mess up yourself because Argentina is also a big team, they have top players.
''We shouldn't look at it as if it's just an ordinary friendly game. If you want to play well in the World Cup the preparations have to start from now.''
The ex-Dream Team VI star concluded by sending a message to the Super Eagles faithful :'' A very big shout out to all the supporters from Nigeria, we promise them we are not going to let them down in the World Cup.
''We want to make sure we do our best because right from day one it has not been easy though.
''Nigeria got 14 points, scored 12 goals and conceded only four goals. We were the first African team to qualify for the World Cup. I believe it is an interesting one for everybody and for the nation.''
Etebo went the full ninety in Nigeria's last match against Algeria last Friday and could start on the bench against Argentina this evening.
