Nigeria Football Federation: England Stopping Nigeria At 2018 World Cup? Sealed Lips
Published: November 17, 2017The Nigeria Football Federation fancy the chances of the Super Eagles if they face England at the 2018 World Cup.
The Sun reported on Thursday that England have become more wary of the Nigerians after they made a statement in their come from behind 4-2 win over Argentina in their last match of 2017 on November 14.
Paul Arkwright, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, congratulated the Nigerian Federation following the win against the South Americans, and believes only England can stop the Super Eagles from winning the tournament in Russia.
''With the resounding victory against Argentina, Tuesday, the @NGSuperEagles have sent a clear statement of intent for #Russia2018,'' Arkwright tweeted.
''Remains to be seen, which team apart from @England can stop them lifting the trophy.''
The Nigerian Federation replied : ''Thanks your Excellency. The team stay humble and will be given the best preparations towards the WC. They intend to give their best at the mundial, as per @England stopping them, sealed lips yet. 😷''.
Group F containing England, Argentina, Nigeria and Sweden, was nicknamed the Group of Death at the 2002 World Cup; the Three Lions and Super Eagles played out a goalless draw in Osaka in the final match of the group.
