Argentine World Cup-Winning Coach : Argentina Assured Of Three Points Vs Nigeria
Published: December 03, 2017Argentine World Cup-Winning manager, the great César Luis Menotti, has revealed that Argentina are assured of three points in their World Cup clash against Nigeria on June 26.
Both countries have met four times in the group stage of previous editions of the World Cup, and it has been a close affair with the South Americans winning by a single goal each time.
''The group is satisfactory, we are better than in the 78 World Cup that we had Italy, Hungary and France,'' Menotti said in an interview with Súper Miter Deportivo.
''It would not be surprising if Argentina loses with Croatia, but against Iceland Nigeria are six points guaranteed.
''The friendly with Nigeria does not count too much, they are dangerous but they never reach their potential.''
Now 79, El Flaco was in the dugout when Argentina won their first Fifa World Cup in 1978, beating the Netherlands 3-1 after extra time at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespuci.
