New Mikel, Anjorin Star As Spurs & Chelsea Play Out Eight-Goal Thriller In U18PL
Published: December 09, 2017Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea shared the spoils in a 4-4 thriller in an U18 Premier League encounter staged at Hotspur Way Training Centre (London) on Saturday, with four players of Nigerian parentage making the match day squad for their respective teams.
England U17 World Cup-wining defender Timothy Eyoma started for the home team, teammate goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi was on the bench, while Chelsea duo Tariq Uwakwe and Faustino Anjorin came off the bench for the Blues in the second half.
Tottenham Hotspur took the lead on 17 minutes when Griffiths dusted himself off to convert the spot kick after he was fouled in the box, before Eyoma doubled their advantage with a glancing header.
Redan reduced the deficit in the 33rd minute, but Spurs restored their two-goal lead through an own goal from Guehi with seven minutes left to play in the first half.
In the second half, Conor Gallagher bagged a hat-trick for Chelsea and Griffiths was on target for the home team.
Faustino Anjorin was impressive when he came on in the 68th minute and was involved in the build up to the fourth goal scored by Chelsea.
