Liverpool 2 Leicester 1: Ndidi Stars, Musa Benched As CAF AFOTY In Waiting Scores Brace
Published: December 30, 2017
Liverpool battled back to claim a 2-1 win over Leicester City in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi started for the Foxes with his compatriot Ahmed Musa named on the bench, Liverpool's Dominic Solanke was named among the substitutes for the hosts for the game, while Kelechi Iheanacho and Ovie Ejaria were not named in the 18.
The Reds were undone by a Jamie Vardy early strike, Riyad Mahrez skipping past Liverpool defender, Andy Robertson to square for the England striker who fired home first time from close range.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane missed first half chances to get Liverpool back on level terms before the Egyptian restored parity seven minutes after the restart, the Egyptian picking up a sensational backheel pass from Mane to round two Leicester defenders before slotting in underneath Kasper Schmeichel.
Ndidi went close with a superb effort seven minutes after the hour mark, a long throw from Christian Fuchs dropping for the midfielder who fired inches wide of target as the Foxes nearly restored their lead.
But Liverpool completed the turnaround with fourteen minutes left on the clock, the phenomenal Salah turning out Harry Maguire on the edge of the box before beating Schmeichel for his second as Jurgen Klopp's side held onto fourth spot on the table.
