Arsenal 2 Chelsea 2: Moses Struggles, Iwobi Benched In Four-Goal Thriller At The Emirates
Published: January 03, 2018A flurry of second half goals saw Arsenal and Chelsea play out a 2-2 draw in a Premier League encounter at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday evening.
Victor Moses started on for the Blues while his compatriot, Alex Iwobi dropped to the substitutes bench, Chuba Akpom missed out on the match day squad for the hosts.
Alvaro Morata had the best chance of breaking the deadlock with barely fifteen minutes in, a long ball over the top catching out Calum Chambers but the striker inexplicably shot wide after advancing into the box with just Peter Cech to beat.
Alexis Sanchez clipped the frame work moments later with Thibaut Courtois well beaten before Marcos Alonso blazed over from a setpiece on the edge of the box in the goalless 45 minutes which ensued.
Jack Wilshere shot Arsenal into the lead three minutes after the hour mark, rifling home off the woodwork from just inside the box.
But the lead lasted for less than three minutes, Eden Hazard equalising from the spot for the visitors after Hector Bellerin was adjudged to have tripped the Belgian in the area.
Chelsea nudged themselves ahead six minutes from time, Davide Zappacosta turning out Maitland Niles to send in a top drawer cross for Alonso who broke loose and finished with aplomb before Bellerin atoned for his blushes with a superb effort to level matters in the added minutes of stoppage time and grab a point for Arsene Wenger's side.
Victor Moses, who struggled in this one, had to replaced ten minutes after the restart while Alex Iwobi watched the entire proceedings from the bench.
