Wenger: I Would Have Committed Suicide If Zappacosta Had Scored
Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that he would have 'killed himself' if Zappacosta’s shot had gone in in the closing minutes of his side's 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Italy international, who replaced Victor Moses ten minutes into the second half, came close to snatching a late winner when he rattled the crossbar after Cech saved a shot from Morata.

Asked what he would have done if Zappacosta had scored, Wenger told reporters, including football.london : ''Maybe I would have commit suicide ''.

The Frenchman is backing Jack Wilshere to earn an England recall on the back of his performances for the Gunners in recent matches.

''He’s at the level now that not many people expected him to be. He has not played for England since 2016, that means everyone gave up on him.

''But now it would not be a surprise if he gets a call up. He deserves great credit.''

After 22 rounds, Arsenal remain sixth in the Premier League standings with 39 points while Chelsea are third, seven points ahead of their London rivals.
