Chelsea Loanee Ola Aina: How I Scored My First Senior Goal
Published: January 09, 2018Nigeria international Ola Aina has opened up on how he netted his first professional goal just last weekend, in Hull City's 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Aina's primary responsibility as a defender is to stop the opponents from getting into scoring positions, and he has said that he was fortunate to write his name on the score-sheet after he listened to advice from Andy Crosby.
''I usually sit on the halfway line for corners but Crozza (Andy Crosby) had his little intuition about this game and told me to get up there and see what I could do,'' Aina told Hull City's official website.
"The ball came in and thankfully I managed to judge it right. Once it came to me, all I had to do was direct the ball towards goal and thankfully the gamble paid off with it ending up in the back of the net.
"I didn't quite know how to celebrate afterwards - I was just chilled - but obviously I was delighted to score my first goal and, more importantly, help us progress to the next round of the FA Cup.''
Aina and Fikayo Tomori's reward for seeing off Blackburn Rovers is a meeting with Nottingham Forest FC in the fourth round.
