Top Tackler Arsenal Vs Chelsea? Not Kante, Koscielny, Mustafi, Bakayoko But Iwobi
Published: January 25, 2018Alex Iwobi excelled defensively and offensively in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the semifinal of the League Cup, so much so that he was rated the best player on the Emirates Stadium in one very important statistic.
The Hale End Academy product had a game-high five tackles, one more than Laurent Koscielny and Tiemoué Bakayoko, who both finished the game with four tackles each.
Bringing those stats to life, Iwobi has averaged less than one tackle per game in the Premier League this season, with 13 tackles in 14 appearances.
The Nigeria international outshone Chelsea's top tackler in the Premier League N'Golo Kanté, who made zero tackles but the Frenchman still highlighted his defensive qualities in the center with a game-high seven interceptions.
Iwobi managed a total of two interceptions and one clearance, and had a passing accuracy of 76.8 percent.
Arsenal have faced Chelsea five times this season in all competitions, with the Gunners number seventeen starting all but one of the games.
