Chelsea Terminate Contract Of Central Defender By Mutual Consent
Published: January 31, 2018Premier League champions Chelsea have terminated the contract of central defender Ali Suljic, paving the way for him to join a new employer even after the close of the transfer window on Wednesday night.
Chelsea youth-team expert Chelsea Youth has tweeted that Suljic has been released and spent much of last season sidelined with illness and departs after six years at the club.
The 19-year-old Suljic has been training with PEC Zwolle, with a view to signing a deal.
He joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014, and helped the club win the FA Youth Cup in 2015 and the UEFA Youth League the following season.
Though Ali Suljic is eligible to play for Bosnia at international level, he is a Swedish youth-teamer and was in action as the Scandinavians recorded a 3-3 draw against eventual champions Nigeria at the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup.
He scored four goals in 33 appearances for Chelsea youth teams.
