Nigerian Winger On Target Against Manchester United U18s As Derby Concede Six Goals
Published: February 04, 2018Derby County are now winless in their last three matches in the U18 Premier League after they were thrashed 6-3 by Manchester United at the Aon Training Complex on Saturday afternoon.
On the hour mark, it was 3-0 United, thanks to goals from Jimmy Garner, Mason Greenwood and Nishan Burkart.
Nigerian winger Ayomide Jibodu entered into the fray in the 66th minute and gave the visitors hope they could mount a late comeback when he made it 5-3 with 12 minutes left on the clock.
But Burkart had other ideas, with the striker closing the scoring in the 90th minute after a swift counter-attack.
Having made the bench against Middlesbrough and West Brom, Jibodu finally made his first appearance in the league this season against Manchester United.
The Rams saw off competition from Liverpool and Aston Villa before they succeeded in signing the highly-rated teenager from AFC United in June 2016.
