Steven Gerrard Backing Nigerian Winger To Wreak Havoc Against Manchester United
Published: February 20, 2018Ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Youth League last sixteen match against Manchester United, Liverpool U19s manager Steven Gerrard reckons that Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye can cause problems for United's defense.
The former Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid has been one of Liverpool's most important players in this competition and has proved so with three goals and one assist during the group stage.
''Manchester United have some good players, they have a couple of technicians in there and they will have their threats but so have we,'' Gerrard told Liverpool's official website.
''We have to make sure the people who are our threats in the top end of the pitch deliver, like Bobby Adekanye, Curtis Jones and Liam Millar. These players have to come to the party and deliver.''
Adekanye has yet to find the net in Liverpool's home matches in the UEFA Youth League, he notched a brace against NK Maribor in October 2017 before tallying his third goal in the Reds 4-0 rout of Sevilla.
Tomorrow's game against the Red Devils starts at 1500 hours GMT at Prenton Park.
