Man City Coach Guardiola : I Wanted To Play For Arsenal, Wenger Refused To Sign Me
Ahead of Sunday's League Cup final between Arsenal and Manchester City at the National Stadium in London, The Citizens manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he wanted to play for the Gunners during his playing career but Arsene Wenger passed up the opportunity to sign him.

The Frenchman was visited by Guardiola but the former Barcelona defensive midfielder was informed that there was no space in the squad.

'''I would have liked to have played for him,'' Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports.

''I called him to make an interview and he invited me to his home, he was so kind.

''I said my dream is to play in the Premier League and I would like to play with you and I feel I can help you.

''Maybe it was a little bit arrogant but he had his squad and he said there was no space.

"I understand completely but I would have liked to have played with him. It was not possible, so no problem at all.''

Guardiola made more than 340 appearances for Barcelona before spells at Brescia, Roma, Al-Ahli and Dorados.
