Fulham 0 Chelsea 6 FAYC: 'New Mikel' Sends A Reminder Of His Class, Abraham Features
Published: February 27, 2018Chelsea have advanced to their ninth consecutive FA Youth Cup semifinal after a 6-0 hammering of Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night, with England U19 international of Nigerian parentage Tariq Uwakwe in action for the entirety of the game for the defending champs.
Whilst the New Mikel went the distance, there was no place in the 18 for teammate Faustino Anjorin; Tammy's brother Timmy Abraham came on for Fulham in the 66th minute.
The home team should count themselves lucky that they went into the break level as Chelsea controlled the game, with Uwakwe coming closest to breaking the deadlock but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond.
In the second half, Chelsea took the lead through an own goal from Mundle-Smith, Hudson-Odoi doubled the advantage, before goals from Taylor-Crossdale (3) and Sterling sealed what proved to be a routine win for Jody Morris' side.
Chelsea's reward for beating Fulham is a semifinal meeting with Birmingham City over two legs.
Nicholas Okoro, son of former Enugu Rangers star Ejikeme Fabian Okoro, did not figure for Birmingham City in their 3-1 win over Adam Idah and Timi Odusina's Norwich City at Carrow Road tonight.
The first-year scholar was in the starting line-up against Bristol City in the third round and was an unused substitute against Sheffield United in the fourth round.
