Arsenal Vs Southampton: Iwobi The Most Creative Player On The Pitch
Published: April 08, 2018Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi was the joint most creative player on the Emirates Stadium turf in Arsenal's 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday afternoon, based on the key passes he made.
Including the Nigerian, there were three players that finished the game with three key passes, the others being Egypt star Mohamed Elneny and Saints Serbian midfielder Dusan Tadic.
However, Iwobi can rightly be called the top creator in the game as two of the three chances he created led to goals.
Iwobi was involved in the build up to Arsenal's first goal scored by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and provided the assists for Danny Welbeck to score the second and third goals.
The Hale End Academy product would have doubled the Gunners advantage six minutes into the second half but saw his shot saved by goalkeeper McCarthy.
In other offensive stats as provided by OPTA, the Gunners number seventeen had one shot which was on target, completed one dribble, and was not caught offside over the course of ninety minutes.
Iwobi will become only the second Nigerian player in history to reach 100 games for Arsenal, after Nwankwo Kanu, if he gets playing time in nine more matches and that could happen before the end of this season.
