Fifth Player Of Nigerian Descent To Debut In Premier League This Season Expresses His Pride
Published: April 30, 2018Lukas Nmecha, 19, has expressed his pride after making his Premier League debut for Manchester City in their superb 4-1 win over West Ham on Sunday, April 29.
The German-born striker got his first taste of Premier League action at the London Stadium, replacing Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus in the 79th minute, with the outcome of the game already decided.
Lukas Nmecha had been kept on the bench for previous Premier League games against Leicester City and Everton.
''A dream come true finally making my Premier League and a 4-1 victory makes it even better 💪🏾 Much more to come 🙏🏾 #GloryToGod,'' said Nmecha in a post on Twitter.
Nmecha is the fifth player of Nigerian descent to debut in the English topflight this season, the others being Philip Billing (Huddersfield Town), Michael Obafemi (Southampton), Dominic Solanke (Liverpool) and Freddie Ladapo (former Crystal Palace).
He has notched up three hat-tricks in this campaign for Manchester City's reserve team.
