England Striker Beats Iheanacho To Leicester City Goal Of The Season
Published: May 02, 2018Kelechi Iheanacho has missed out on Leicester City's Goal of the Season award for the 2017-2018 season.
The Taye Academy product had been nominated for the accolade along with Jamie Vardy (4), Riyad Mahrez (4) and Shinji Okazaki on the 10-goal shortlist.
At Tuesday's End of Season dinner, England star striker Jamie Vardy was presented with the Goal of the Season award for his brilliant strike against West Brom in March.
Iheanacho's goal against Peterborough United on January 27 in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup din not make the top three most eye-catching goals scored by a Leicester City player this season.
The Super Eagles striker has tallied six goals in 26 matches across all competitions since joining the Foxes from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
In other categories, Wilfred Ndidi was named the Young Player of the Season for the second year running, Harry Maguire the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season and City's 4-1 win over Southampton the Club's Performance of the Season.
Young Nigerian left-back Calvin Ughelumba was not nominated for the Academy Player of the Season won by Conor Tee.
